Druid's Arm 6

Veg-tan leather articulated armor, made to look like birch bark. I had never made leather armor before this project, but I think I'm hooked, now. This project was for a friend's druid costume: he said he wanted his arm to look like he had stuck his arm into a birch tree. As the costume was for a larp, the armor also had to be durable and fully articulated, to allow free movement and stay together despite abuse. I began by fudging my own pattern, based on measurements from my buddy's arm and mulling over pictures of various 15th-century arm pieces. The leather varies in thickness from 3-6 oz, depending on which piece I was making. The ivy leaves and vines are all leather, as well. This project was largely completed over the course of two days, when I'd come home from work, stay up making armor 'till 6AM, and then go back into work again. It was an absolute blast.
